Data recovery

Data recovery from all types of computer media

provided by Recoveo

Whether you’re an individual or a company, we can all experience the loss of our most precious data: family photos, accounting information, work documents, administrative files, music, videos…

Whether the data is personal or sensitive to your company, it is always possible to recover it. There are many reasons for data loss, but fortunately it’s not irreversible.

The error may be human or accidental: formatting without prior backup, accidental deletion or emptying of the recycle garbage can, loss of partition, power surge, destruction of the device containing your data, etc.

Often, the disappearance or degradation of our data stems from technical problems: hardware failures, logical failures…

Whatever your problem, our team can help. Whatever type of device you own – HDD and SSD hard drives, RAID or NAS servers, USB sticks, SD memory cards, smartphones or any other device – we have the right solutions to help you recover your most valuable data.

In the event of an emergency for businesses and organizations, you can also contact our team, who can intervene within 4 hours, 24/7.

The challenge of data recovery

For businesses, a major loss of data, whether malicious or accidental, can be extremely critical, leading to significant operational losses and considerable costs. For individuals, sentimental memories are often stored in their computer files or phone memory, and their disappearance also greatly affects them. If you’ve lost your data, don’t hesitate to contact our specialists; we’ll advise you on the most suitable data recovery solutions for you.

The main causes of data loss

Unfortunately, the reasons for data loss are many and varied: human error, mishandling, hardware or software failure, hacking… We’re not immune to any of these causes, and we can suddenly find ourselves faced with inaccessible or corrupted files. That’s why our laboratory is equipped with an ISO-5/Class 100 clean room, and why our team of specialists has been dedicated to recovering your data for 20 years.

Logic failure: definition, causes and recovery

This is often the least serious type of failure, as it does not require cleanroom intervention, and we can recover your data using specialized software. It is therefore often the least costly recovery option. Logical failure is most often due to mishandling, such as accidentally formatting the hard disk, deleting a file, performing a haphazard reinstallation, downloading a virus when opening an e-mail, and so on.

Sometimes, data can also be corrupted during transfers or updates to our PC or NAS systems. No need to panic! As your storage device is not physically damaged, there’s no need to open it in the cleanroom; your data is still present, but corrupted or inaccessible. Only their structure or organization has been compromised; it is therefore imperative to avoid any rewriting operation on your device, as this could permanently erase your files by overwriting them.

This type of failure does not cause any suspicious noises; the disk may be recognized by the operating system, but some partitions or data may be inaccessible. It is also possible that your device will no longer boot, that your hard disk will no longer be detected, or that you will receive an error message such as “no boot device available”, depending on your system configuration. As long as new information does not replace it, the chances of successfully recovering it are high.

Physical failure: definition, causes and recovery

Physical failure can be mechanical or electronic, and is the most serious type of failure, since it requires the device to be opened in a clean room and the intervention of specialized technicians. Physical failure can occur for a variety of reasons: impact or dropping of the device, accidental causes such as floods or fires, electrical surges, disk wear, deformation of platters, firmware failure…

These failures are generally characterized by a malfunction of the hard disk, or its inability to boot or be recognized by the operating system.  In such cases, it is imperative to call in data recovery professionals to optimize the chances of recovering your lost files.
